Hayfield Stone

A traditional quarrying village, Hayfield is situated on the River Sett below the exposed moorland of Derbyshire’s only mountain, Kinder Scout. Hayfield Stone, which is Carboniferous Kinderscout Grit has a cut surface with a variable pale orange-buff colour and has been popular for use in fireplace stones for centuries.
