Stone Masonry
Stone Masonry is an age-old, timeless art, and masons must be able to appreciate the stone's beauty to create that special something which will endure for generations to come. With this in mind our team has been specially chosen to ensure respect for the expensive raw materials and attention to the minutest detail to guarantee complete customer satisfaction whatever your needs. Using tools that date back to Medieval times and a craft that is one of the oldest known to man, a stone fireplace, carved by one of our highly skilled masons is an incredible way of bringing nature’s beautiful raw materials into your home and shaping them to suit your lifestyle. Each stone of your fireplace will be carefully chosen for its colour and depth before being skilfully crafted to create a natural, warm and elegant fireplace that will endure for generations. Hand-crafted stone has a quality that machines simply cannot reproduce and here at Farmhouse Fireplaces we understand that you want a unique and graceful addition to your home. Farmhouse Fireplaces uses only stone that is quarried locally in Derbyshire, which is home to a wide variety of types of native stone. Carboniferous limestone in the White Peak, Gritstone, a grainy sandstone, in the Dark Peak and the central area, a finer sandstone on the Staffordshire border and on the opposite, eastern side, of the County a soft sandstone. The great magnesian limestone outcrop which crosses the length of Yorkshire and continues in County Durham starts just north of Nottingham and runs along the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire border.
